Junior Accounts Officer

The Junior Accounts Officer plays a key role in supporting the finance team by assisting with day-to-day accounting
tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external
regulations. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in accounting and finance within
a dynamic and supportive environment.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
**Accounts Payable & Receivable**:
- Process invoices, purchase orders, and payment run
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts
**Bank Reconciliation**:
- Assist with daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies
**Financial Reporting**:
- Support the preparation of monthly financial reports
- Maintain accurate records in accounting systems
**Data Entry & Record Keeping**:
- Enter financial transactions into accounting software
- Maintain organised filing systems for financial documents
**Stakeholder Communication**:
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments regarding payments and queries
- Provide administrative support to the finance team
**Compliance & Audit Support**:
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant legislation
- Ad-hoc duties, as directed.
JOB COMPETENCIES:
**Attention to detail**:Ability to accurately process financial data, identify discrepancies, and ensure
records are complete.
**Numerical Proficiency**: Comfort and skill in working with numbers, including performing calculations,
interpreting financial data and using accounting software. A strong foundation
in numeracy supports effective decision-making and financial analysis.
**Analytical Thinking**:Capacity to assess financial information, spot trends or irregularities, and
propose logical solutions.
**Communication Skills**: Ability to clearly convey financial information to both finance and non-finance
stakeholders, and to professionally liaise with suppliers, clients, and internal teams.
**Time Management**:Skilled in prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing workload
efficiently—especially during reporting periods or when handling multiple
accounts.
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or working towards)
- One or more years of office experience in a professional environment
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. MYOB, Xero, or SAP) exposure to Pronto is
highly regarded/
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role
