THE ROLE

This is a unique opportunity to join the Market Risk team based in Sydney. Our team quantifies commodity exposures via bespoke financial models, assesses trading strategies and advocates for risk management with key decision makers.

This role provides stewardship over risk analysis, including the algorithms and quantitative methods used for reporting, forecasting and analysis within and across teams. The role requires a deep understanding of energy markets, wholesale energy portfolios, and quantitative methods.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

- Being a leader in risk analytics, drawing upon your deep understanding of the energy markets, wholesale energy portfolios and commercial incentives to provide insightful, timely and easily understood analysis quantifying exposures & opportunities.
- Leading the development, implementation and review of algorithms, assumptions and models used throughout our Commodity Risk Management System to support key decision makers to understand exposure.
- Developing and promoting trusted tools and forecasts with a focus on delivering efficient and margin accretive trading within Origin.
- Being the Custodian of risk dashboards, designing, building and maintaining intuitive, robust, and easy to navigate Tableau dashboards that provide access to cross commodity risk and market analytics.

IS THIS YOU?

You’ll need to be an expert user of Tableau or similar, with coding skills in SQL, Python or similar and will rely on your experience in designing and delivering analytics and management dashboards, within a risk team, commodity or trading environment. With a strong eye for detail, you will have a proactive, analytical approach, working towards tight deadlines. You must also hold qualifications in quantitative finance, engineering, mathematics, physics or programming.

In addition, you’ll possess:

- A demonstrated understanding of financial hedging instruments, P&L reporting, and financial risk management.
- Experience managing people directly and indirectly.
- Possess strong communication skills with a proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
- Be an expert in MS Excel.
- Be self-motivated, inquisitive and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
