**Position Information**:
Central Sydney Intensive English High School provides innovative English language, orientation, wellbeing, settlement, and high school preparation programs to secondary aged, newly arrived students requiring intensive English as an Additional Language education. Current student enrolment is 150 students, and these numbers are expected to increase. The school's quality intensive English curriculum is referenced to NESA syllabus outcomes and the Intensive English Program Curriculum Framework. Staff work in and across secondary school KLAs. The transition to high school, Technical and Further Education and school to work programs are taught by highly skilled and specialist English as an Additional Language teachers. Students learn in age, stage-based, level of English language proficiency classes with senior students participating in Year 11 language-based elective courses. This position is responsible for leading and managing the English KLA.

Approval to teach English as a Second Language Secondary (ESS), with proven capacity to lead the English faculty in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of the Intensive English Curriculum framework, underpinned by evidenced based practices, resulting in student growth and attainment.

Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated, high-impact professional learning that ensures the continual development and growth of teacher expertise in EAL/D pedagogy.

Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage all members of the school community.

Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole school improvement processes that support the attainment of the school’s strategic directions.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
