**Position Information**:
The Conservatorium High School was established in 1918 at the behest of the inaugural director of the NSW State Conservatorium of Music, Henri Verbrugghen. The school is part of the Port Jackson Principals Network with an enrolment of 154 students that reflects the cultural and ethnic diversity of our region, with around 80% of students of a Language Background other than English. Staff are experienced, innovative, and committed to excellence, nurturing individual strengths while supporting student learning and wellbeing. They demonstrate personal responsibility for improving their teaching practice and shared responsibility for the provision of high-quality educational outcomes for every student. Staffed and administered by the NSW Department of Education, the school also avails itself of the pedagogical expertise of top professional musicians and teachers, many of whom are employed by the Conservatorium's tertiary arm, the Faculty of Music of the University of Sydney.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Experience in monitoring and evaluating student data to inform effective teaching practices and drive student improvement in a dynamic, high-performance specialist-school EAL/D environment.

2. Proven capacity to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of the Executive to support whole-school improvement initiatives through the Strategic Improvement Plan (SIP)

3. Deep understanding of the needs of HPGE students and demonstrated capacity to lead and develop teacher capacity to work with HPGE students and develop differentiated teaching and learning programs, in a specialist school with a culture of peak performance and productive citizenship.

4. Proven ability to co-ordinate and implement professional learning and development programs that support the School Excellence Framework (SEF), and NESA accreditation and compliance processes.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
