**Position Information**:
At Blacktown Girls High School students are empowered to learn to their fullest potential in an environment in which everyone is known, valued and respected. The community shares a commitment to continuous improvement and our students have a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, deep content knowledge and are empowered to meet current and future challenges. Our students are enabled to develop social awareness, civic responsibility and personal growth to become informed citizens in a rapidly changing global community. The School has an enrolment of 945 students, made up of 2.3% Aboriginal students and 86% of students from a language background other than English. Equity programs to support students from a Language Background Other Than English and Aboriginal students are also delivered by staff and outside agencies. We have also fostered strong partnerships with universities, businesses and community groups and have established strong industry partnerships.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Demonstrated ability to analyse data and create high-impact professional learning that ensures the continual development and growth of teacher expertise to improve student learning outcomes.

2. High level interpersonal and communication skills to supervise and manage a diverse range of individuals, including the school learning support team.

3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the school leadership team to support school’s shared vision, implement school strategic directions and lead whole school initiatives.

4. Outstanding instructional leadership and the capacity to lead coaching conversations that influence quality teaching and learning structures which builds on a culture of high expectations, collaborative practice, and ongoing school improvement.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
