**About the role**:
- The Principal Project Officer will lead the project to implement a new delivery model for Victoria's gambling harm prevention and response programs.
- The overall objective is to implement a person-centred, integrated service model for Victorians at risk of and experiencing gambling harm.
- Work between now and 1 July 2026 is focussed on the introduction of a stepped care response for gambling harm treatment and support programs, including a commissioning strategy and a monitoring and evaluation framework. The subsequent phase to 30 June 2028, will focus on re-design of primary and targeted gambling harm prevention programs.
- Sitting on the unit's management team, the role works closely with the Director, and unit managers, and will provide oversight for project workstreams being led by Senior Policy Officers (these staff will have a dotted reporting line up to the Principal Project Officer).
- Effective working relationships with peers, and a range of internal and external stakeholders are integral to the role.

**How you'll make a difference**:
- Manage and oversee the project to introduce a new delivery model for Victoria's gambling harm prevention and response programs to meet departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters. This includes:
- development and maintenance of detailed project plans that include tasks, timelines, dependencies, resource allocation, and risks and issues
- supporting project workstream leads to ensure that project deliverables are achievable and delivered on time and in line with overall organisational goals
- monitor and report on project progress, highlighting risks and issues and recommending proactive solutions
- preparing and presenting quality reports and work briefings in accordance with the department's project management processes.
- convening project governance meetings, and providing other stakeholder briefings, status updates and presentations as required.
- identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, including the development of mitigation and contingency plans as needed.
- implement preventative measures to reduce project disruptions and escalate critical issues to senior management as needed.
- evaluating tender bids and participating in liaison and negotiation associated with tender processes.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to support project delivery, drawing on highly developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills to propose workable to solutions to problems, implement, evaluate and adjust as required.
contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
**Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate**:
- A tertiary qualification in a clinical discipline or fields related to public policy, health administration or business management is desirable.
- A demonstrated record of achievement in project delivery, ideally in relation to implementing new models of care. A sound understanding of the Victorian health system (particularly mental health, alcohol and other drugs (AOD) or community health sectors), and knowledge of the department and its operating processes and information systems is desirable.
