**About the role**:
The Principal Project Officer, Performance and Capability, Regulatory Services will lead performance and capability projects for the Health Regulator including data systems and processes improvements projects, reporting framework development, report design and production, and capability building initiatives. As a central contact point working closely with stakeholders from each regulatory team, the Principal Project Officer will provide strategic recommendations to improve regulatory practice and consistency across the Health Regulator branch. They will use intelligence and operational information as well as best practice advice, notably Better Regulation Victoria's‘ Towards Best Practice; material to identify emerging trends to design and deliver initiatives that inform the development and implementation of a strategic regulatory model.
The Health Regulator branch in the People, Operations, Regulation and Legal division regulates the following sectors:

- Human Tissue and Gene Technology

**How you'll make a difference**:
You will develop effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders including staff in the Regulatory Reform and Policy, Regulatory Compliance and Operations - Health and Regulatory Compliance and Operations - Environment units and a wide range of program and policy areas within the department. The successful applicant will demonstrate strategic and analytical skills as well as sound leadership and an ability to influence others to maximise efficiency and effectiveness and improve outcomes for Victorians.

**Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate**:

- Lead projects that assist teams of the Health Regulator including data systems and processes improvements projects, reporting framework development, report design and production, and capability building initiatives. Manage and oversee the full life cycle of projects to meet departmental objectives including:
a) Researching, preparing and executing project plans within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
b) Liaise and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure objectives are met.
c) Preparing and presenting quality reports and work briefings in accordance with the department's project management processes.
d) Evaluating tender bids and participating in liaison and negotiation associated with tender processes.
e) Contributing to the monitoring and evaluation of projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.
- Demonstrated experience with all aspects of project coordination
- Provide leadership, guidance and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed, comprehensive reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters.
- Identify emerging issues, risk and trends impacting on the successful achievement of key business objectives and imperatives and provide high quality business intelligence and sound recommendations based on comprehensive research and investigations.
- Formulate compliance and evaluation strategies to address specific issues related to the effective provision and implementation of required outcomes.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
