About us
Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's adult corrections system, including both community and custodial corrections.
About the role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Projects, the Principal Policy and Project Officer is responsible for leading the development of significant state-wide policy and priority projects in response to emerging issues in the corrections system.

**Some of your duties will include**:

- Lead the provision of insightful policy analysis and authoritative advice, including the identification of emerging issues, opportunities, risks and trends impacting on the achievement of key government initiatives.
- Research, analyse, prepare and present comprehensive written materials including solutions focussed reports, briefings, papers and presentations on policy and program issues and options for senior management, departmental executives, government and other key stakeholders.
- Plan and manage key projects, liaising with team members, anticipating and addressing issues, negotiating key elements with stakeholders to ensure project objectives are achieved.

About you

**To be successful you will have**:

- Sound knowledge of and/or experience in Victorian government administrative processes.
- Proven track record in providing public sector policy advice within a complex social policy
- environment.
- Knowledge of current policy direction, research and issues within corrections and the criminal justice system more broadly, or the ability to understand these issues quickly.
- Strong conceptual, policy and analytical skills with ability to analyse complex operational, policy
