**Your new role**

Working as an animal compliance officer your role will be to deliver best practice animal wandering and collection services that protect and enhance the amenity and safety of the City. You will:

- Respond to customer requests regarding wandering animals, enclosure issues, property inspections and non-compliance of off leash dog parks in line with relevant procedures and legislation
- You will provide preliminary care services for all cats and dogs entering into the Animal Management Centre
- Conduct proactive and reactive patrols of designated areas and educate animal owners where possible
- Assist external agencies with animal control and handling
- Actively promote and support responsible pet ownership opportunities across the City

**What you'll need to succeed**
- You will have a thorough knowledge of animal husbandry, animal control and kennel and facility operations
- You will have well-developed knowledge and experience consulting and advising on domestic animals
- Extensive experience handling anxious, aggressive or scare animals
- Ability to cope with both the physical and mental aspects of the position
- You will have strong time management skills, excellent oral communication and ability to communicate tactfully in sensitive situations and will be flexible, a team-player and responsive.

**What you need to do now**

To be successful for this position you will need to undergo a pre-employment functional assessment to meet the physical requirements of the role, wear a council provided uniform and possess a current ‘C’ class driving licence.
