**About the opportunity**

We have an exciting opportunity for a Coordinator Environmental Strategy and Mitigation to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis.
- Advance environmental performance improvements in our growing city through engagement with internal and external stakeholders
- Facilitate appropriate environmental performance engagement and strategy development that addresses urban renewal and growth areas
- Develop systems and processes that support the achievement of more sustainable decision making and action within Council.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Minimum degree level qualification in environmental science, urban planning or equivalent
- Solid experience in an environmental, sustainability or related field
- Strong capacity or sound experience in the development of strategies, policies and programs related to environmental sustainability
- Proven project management skills, with a strong record of achievement in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating a broad range of programs and projects
- Demonstrated ability to promote and disseminate environmental knowledge at both an individual and organisational level
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Current class C driver's licence.

**Desirable**:

- Experience in urban planning, energy management, renewable energy, and/or carbon accounting
- Experience in staff supervision.

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $2,175.94 per week
- 35-hour working week
- Leaseback vehicle
- Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
