**Category Management Specialist**
- _Salary: _$134,593 - $180,115 _(Plus Superannuation)_
- _Ongoing role, full time (flexibility may be available)_

**The Role**

The Category Management Specialist will provide direction for major spend categories including ICT and Professional Services, including supply market management and development, strategic planning and execution, and contract and risk management activities to meet business needs. The Category Management Specialist is also responsible for taking the lead in understanding the supply chain for relevant categories and for creating and managing category strategies to generate and sustain the most value for the Department.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

- Establishing, owning and overseeing the vision and objectives for major spend categories.
- Utilising category specific knowledge to ensure the category activities are in line with VGPB requirements.
- Build capability and manage the performance and risk of strategic or highly complex suppliers.

**The Team**

The position of Category Management Specialist forms a part of the Finance, investment and Procurement Branch within the Corporate Services Group.

Finance, Investment and Procurement supports best practice resource allocation, budget and financial management and procurement across the department. It does this through the provision of strategic advice to the senior Executive and Ministers, development and implementation of frameworks, policies, systems and internal controls in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, other relevant legislation, accounting standards and Department of Treasury and Finance and Victorian Government Purchasing Board requirements.

The branch includes the Procurement Centre, Business Partnering and Reporting Team, Strategy and Investment Team, Financial Services Team and the Reporting and Operations Team.

**About You**
- Exceptionally developed category and contract management experience with a procurement focus.
- The ability to consider data volume, variety, velocity, and veracity to establish data collection.
- The capacity to consider a broad range of topics (beyond immediate area of work) and work across government and deliver sustainable solutions.
