**About the Opportunity**
We are seeking to hire an Industrial Relations/Workplace Relations expert to define, establish and run the companies’ Health & Safety Representative framework. You will lead in management of Union relationships, ensuring the company is fulfilling its legal obligations under Australian Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
You will drive strategic development and implementation in relation to Industrial Relations and Work Health and Safety matters in an environment where thinking outside the box is valued.
This role is required to influence and build strategy at senior level. This is a huge opportunity for leadership and career progression where you will design and lead a process, with the ability to hire a team. This role has the opportunity to progress in Policy, Safety, Operations or Strategy in a globally recognised organisation.
**Your responsibilities**
- Define, establish and run the companies’ Health & Safety Representative framework.
- Oversee training and guidance for work health and safety committees to ensure members have the skills to identify risks and issues, operate and report effectively in undertaking their duties as a committee.
- Review committee activities and coordinate their reporting requirements to ensure hazards and unsafe workplace conditions and work practices have been identified, reported and are being acted on.
- Lead in management of Union relationships, and ensure that Fair Work Act provisions and various work health and safety legislation is adhered to
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure that the Company's treatment of workers is consistent with its core business values and objectives
- Partner with Legal, Policy and Operations teams to surface insights, develop practical solutions and help to improve worker experience and safety outcomes
- Investigate and resolve complex and/or critical industrial relations issues in a timely and effective manner.
**Requirements**:
- Experience advising on and operationalising Health & Safety Committees in a Unionised workforce is vital to this role.
- Experience in both Industrial Relations and Work Health & Safety.
- Experience in dealing with Unions and organised industry groups and working with HSRs and/or union workforces is highly valued.
- The ability to influence and navigate a complex set of external and internal stakeholders.
