About the Business Unit
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an independent statutory authority governed by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine Act 1985 (the VIFM Act). It is part of the Justice portfolio of the Victorian Government. The work of the VIFM can be described as a cycle of three parts: - Providing forensic medical and scientific services and tissue banking - Learning from this work - Researching and teaching. The VIFM Act creates a joint position of Director of the VIFM and Professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine (DFM) at Monash University. The Director/Professor is responsible for the strategic direction and activities of the DFM, which is housed at the VIFM and operates under the governance of the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences. This position is within the Corporate Services Division.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources & Organisational Development, this role is the primary client-facing role for HR working in collaboration with a small team of like professionals. The role is accountable for staff recruitment, staff advice, continuous improvement within the HR portfolio, relationship management with internal and external stakeholders, delivery of a VIFM induction program and the coordination of the VIFM's Professional Development Plan.
**Some of your duties may include**:
- Act as the client-facing role for HR including coordinating and responding to requests and queries and delivering customer-focussed services. This includes ensuring that all requests for advice are recorded, responded to on time, the advice is consistent and is provided in accordance with relevant policies and agreements. This function includes management of and reporting on advice data to ensure that trends and issues are managed and monitored.
- Prepare clear and concise correspondence on HR issues with advice and recommendations for resolution.
- Coordination of the HR component of staff recruitment including ensuring that all documentation is compliant and recorded appropriately in the relevant HR systems. Recruitment role includes aiding managers to appropriately recruit new starters and manage staff employment changes. Where relevant, develop policy and procedures and recruitment documents to ensure that all processes are done in accordance with all necessary requirements.
About You
- At least 5 years HR experience in delivering key HR functions.
- Sound working knowledge and understanding of how relevant agreements, legislation, policies, and procedures relate to the delivery of people services in the Victorian Public Sector.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate recruitment and staff onboarding and offboarding.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work with a process driven framework to meet customer needs and assist VIFM to meet its recruitment obligations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise advice on a diverse range of issues associated with conditions of employment, taxation, superannuation, and payroll activities.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose, problem solve, develop suitable solutions and escalate issues where necessary.

Qualifications/Requirements
- Tertiary and HR qualifications and / or equivalent experience.
Highly desirable
- Experience in delivering HR Services in a government agency or the health sector.
- High level administrative skills and experience.
