Fleet Plant Maintenance Technician

Join a happy dynamic team servicing a large and diverse fleet of small plant, utilities and passenger cars, trucks, heavy plant and machinery. Use your extensive mechanical skills and knowledge to define solutions to technical issues, minimise down time and improve maintenance efficiencies.
All the required tools necessary to perform the job are supplied on site. The position works a fortnightly roster which may require you to work an evening shift, on these occasions penalty rates will apply.
**About the role**:
- carry out scheduled service, maintenance and repairs or breakdown response service on a range of Council fleet, plant and outdoor power equipment
- identify and diagnose problems from electronic (12/24V systems), hydraulic and mechanical systems
- read equipment manuals and schematics both paper and digital based; and assist in keeping accurate service records across the entire range of Council operated fleet, plant and equipment
- use asset management software to comply with all service, repairs and maintenance

- **We are seeking**:
- a trade qualified mechanic to work in a stable Local Government workshop that's just a short trip from the Gold Coast or Tweed
- practical experience in workshop operations undertaking work on a wide variety of plant and equipment including trucks
- a current vehicle licence - MR or above

**Essential**:
- 1. Trade Qualification in Automotive Mechanics Certificate 3 Heavy Vehicle and/or Automotive Mechanics Certificate 3 Light Vehicle and/or Plant Mechanics Certificate 3, or similar accredited qualification.
- 2. Four years practical experience in workshop operations [inclusive of apprenticeship].
- 3. Current Vehicle Licence - Medium Rigid.
- 4. A level of literacy and numeracy sufficient to enable reading of job instructions, operation & maintenance manuals, and to complete work records and reports.
- 5. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, apprentices and plant operators.
- 6. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant safe work procedures or practices.
- 7. Demonstrated capacity to work unsupervised and as a part of a small client orientated team.
- 8. Basic skill in the operation of Fleet management software and CPU and EMS systems.
**Desirable**:
- 9. General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
- 10. Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Council Licence (MVRIC).
- 11. RMS restricted authorised examiner.
- 12. RMS HVAIS authorised examiner.
- 13. Forklift drivers licence.
- 14. Heavy Rigid or Heavy Combination Truck Licence
