Our Energy team have a new opportunity for a Team Leader to join our ’Centre of Excellence’ Grid Connections team in Melbourne. As part of a dynamic team, you will primarily focus on developing and delivering grid connection projects and support the broader Energy business.

Our highly experience team of specialists are actively involved across both development and construction phase of the projects (grid connected and off-grid) in the renewable energy sector, oil & gas and mining industries.

This is an exciting time for AECOM’s Energy business as the energy market, and Renewable Energy in particular, continues to grow. Grid connection is becoming a critical area where proponents (utility providers and private investors and developers) are seeking specialized grid connection and network planning services across various life cycles from siting to feasibility stage through to commissioning and on-going compliance monitoring during the operations phase.

**Job Description**:
As part of the team, you will lead, guide and mentor a team of Power Systems Engineers working on a variety of challenging grid connection projects with emerging technologies, including utility-scale wind, solar, battery, and pumped hydro across the entire NEM in Australia and offers a great opportunity to be a part of the fast-moving energy transformation.

The role of Team Leader is an exciting and diverse opportunity to deliver technical work, review/verify design across major projects, and provide leadership to professional and technical staff on complex, large scale projects that deliver high standard outcomes for AECOM clients clients throughout ANZ.

Activities and expectations of the role will include, but are not restricted to the following:

- Advise, review and guide engineers across grid interconnection and system planning studies for grid scale wind, solar, energy storage and hybrid generating systems
- Support proponents with negotiating performance standards with AEMO and network service providers
- Support key clients with stakeholder management during studies and due diligence process liaising with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Support strategic pursuits and bids/proposals for major projects

**Qualifications**:
As a Team Leader at AECOM you will have proven knowledge and experience mentoring junior engineers and modellers, with as strong background of networking clients within design/engineering consultancy, AEMO, OEM’s and utility providers, dealing with grid compliance and system modelling, network planning and customer connections.

Your ability to demonstrate commercial acumen, coupled with your coaching and mentoring of junior staff will be key selection criteria, alongside some or all the following:

- Demonstrable experience working on grid scale renewables (wind/solar/battery/hybrid) projects connecting into NEM & WEM within the Australian network
- Proven understanding of transmission/ distribution planning and connection process for VRE and dispatchable generating plants including energy storage and embedded generators
- Hands-on experience leading connection process from concept planning through construction, testing & commissioning on grid scale VRE projects including registration
- Strong understanding of technical requirements (NER schedules S5.2 and S5.3) and guidelines for connecting new generators and loads (including new guidelines for DMAT) including compliance requirements for registration and commissioning
- Proven experience using PSS/e, PSCAD and Digsilent PowerFactory for system studies
- Proficient in Python Scripting, and working knowledge of ETAP
- Exceptional levels of written and oral communication

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Accredited RPEV/CPEng or working towards Chartership status with EA, highly advantageous
