**Who are we looking for?**

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a HSE Officer to join Health, Safety and Environment, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.

The HSE Officer provides a wide range of administrative and project support to QUT’s Department of HSE. The appointee will be expected to contribute to work across the Department, including web page management, data management and project support. The appointee may be required to travel between campuses in support of programs.

**About Student Services and Wellbeing Portfolio**

The Student Services and Wellbeing portfolio leads the university-wide strategy and coordination of all non-academic matters related to the student experience. The portfolio delivers a range of services across the student life cycle, as well as providing advice and leadership to the university on a broad range of student and staff matters, including social justice and public policy.
The departments within the portfolio include: Student Administration, Student Engagement, Equity, Student Services and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). The portfolio also has strong links to and works closely with QUT’s Oodgeroo Unit, Student Success Group and Human Resources.
The portfolio is focused on delivering services to support the university’s commitment to an exceptional student experience, leading to positive outcomes in success, retention and completion. This includes developing a campus culture which is inclusive, safe, and respectful for all students and staff.

The Department of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) plays a key role at QUT, driving advancement through:

- HSE advice and direction to the QUT Faculties and Divisions;
- university-wide systems that enable a safe and healthy working environment and ensure sustainable environmental protection; and
- collaboration with students and staff for positive health, safety and environment outcomes at QUT.

**What you need to succeed**

To thrive in this role, you will be someone who enjoys taking the initiative to provide excellent service and support across a broad range of activities each day.

You will demonstrate:
1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of an associate diploma with at least (two) 2 years subsequent experience.
2. Demonstrated high level digital literacy skills in a range of software packages as well as development and maintenance of databases and intranet sites.
3. Demonstrated experience in project management coordination involving a range of stakeholders with successful outcomes and deliverables realised.
4. General knowledge of health and safety risk management, injury management and WorkCover, or ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
5. High level presentation and interpersonal skills to enable effective communication with a range of internal and external stakeholders, with the ability to work independently and in a team based environment to achieve high quality outcomes.
6. Highly developed written communication skills with the ability to write and edit a diverse range of high-quality materials including project documentation, newsletters brochures and online media, which may include data analysis, graphical representations and interpretations.
