**About the role**
As the Operations Manager for our Rail Products Hot & Cold Section, you will be overseeing the operations of our machining centres, finishing line and all auxiliary machining and inspection processes.
This role will see you managing the operational aspects of our rail business, to sustainably improve performance within safety, operations, planning and training. This also includes the implementation, monitoring and diagnosis of operational and business processes to deliver the rolling schedule in terms of quality, quantity and timeliness, while ensuring our commitments to our customers.

This role is a key member of the Rail Products Lead, ensuring all critical issues are addressed in a timely manner to create a sustainable business capable of meeting our production demands. The Operations Manager will focus on activities that will assist the Manufacturing Manager achieve continual improvement in cost and delivery.

Additionally, you will be:

- Responsible for the development and management of operational budgets including, alignment with maintenance and capital budgets for the Rail department
- Directly responsible for the performance of over 100 persons
- Developing short and long term strategic Rail manufacturing business plans, integrating into the commercial business plan for the Rail market
- Leading the Rail Products Operations Team to deliver the Waratah Rail Products business plan to improve overall performances
- Ensuring the effective implementation of business systems and processes to manage OH&S, environment, people, operating process (including quality) within the operational budgets
- Taking a pivotal role to meet dIFOT targets and a minimised inventory/ waste
- Contributing to business improvement activities focusing on throughput, product quality and cost reduction
- Adapting continuous improvement within your Rail department culture

**About you**
We’re looking for a leader with a background in heavy metal manufacturing, who has completed a tertiary degree in relevant technical studies.
- Relevant qualification in Engineering, Heavy Industry or Metallurgy
- Leadership experience within complex manufacturing business
- Technical ability and an understanding of manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated business and commercial acumen
- Strong understanding of manufacturing methodologies and improvement processes
- Demonstrated ability to deliver business plan outcomes
- Comprehend Engineering and Maintenance concepts and systems to improve business performance
- Leadership skills to influence a wide range of stakeholders
