**About the role**

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping the future of medical science? As a Medical Scientist at the MeS3 level, you’ll specialise within your professional discipline, demonstrating exceptional leadership while overseeing a team of dedicated medical scientists and paraprofessionals. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in increasing the value, contributions, and effectiveness of the professional discipline within the agency or health unit. Working under general policy direction, you’ll navigate the complexities of scientific operations, setting priorities, developing strategies, maintaining high work standards, and ensuring optimal resource allocation.

In this dynamic leadership role, you’ll also coordinate workflow within the Constitutional Cytogenetic Unit. As the Scientific Lead, you’ll oversee the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and effective prenatal diagnostic and tissue culture services. With your extensive experience and advanced knowledge, you’ll ensure the unit operates seamlessly, driving meaningful outcomes that enhance the services provided to the community.

**About You**

We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional with a passion for leadership and advancing scientific excellence. To excel in this role, you will bring:

- **Strong Leadership and Interpersonal Skills**: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff, along with high-level interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- **Scientific Expertise and Analytical Skills**: Extensive experience in constitutional prenatal diagnostic and tissue laboratories, including expertise in interpreting and reporting microarray, FISH, and karyotype analysis.
- **Organisation and Problem-Solving Abilities**: Demonstrated critical thinking, time management, and adaptability to manage complex workflows, establish priorities, and optimise operations.
- **Commitment to Quality and Innovation**: Knowledge of quality control, assurance, laboratory management systems, and a proactive approach to evaluating and implementing new techniques and procedures.
