Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity to protect and promote public health from exposures to chemical and environmental hazards, especially those related to air quality and human health. In this role you will:

- Provide robust and scientifically defensible high level strategic leadership, consultancy and authoritative advice on matters pertaining to public health to all levels of Government and the public.
- Undertake human health risk assessments and develop human health risk management plans to address a range of chemical and environmental hazards, especially those related to air quality.
- Lead policy and program development for public health in South Australia in relation to chemical and environmental hazards.
- Work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, often with competing priorities, about the human health impacts of chemical and environmental hazards and communicate with influence to ensure appropriate public health risk management strategies are in place.
- Interpret and evaluate the findings of scientific reports and research projects and translate complex scientific concepts into written and verbal risk communication strategies for audiences with varying levels of scientific knowledge.

**Criminal History Screening Requirement**
- A National Police Certificate (NPC) for employment involving ‘Unsupervised Contact with Vulnerable Groups’ is required for this position (E.g. aged care employment or work involving vulnerable clients)
- A DHS ‘Working With Children Check’ (WWCC) is required for this position

**Immunisation Risk for this position is Category C (mínimal patient contact)**

SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.

**Special Conditions**
- A recognised degree in a relevant field of science (e.g. a Bachelor of Science in medical sciences, environmental health, public health or a health-related science discipline).
- The position is based with Adelaide.
- Work outside normal house will be required and intrastate (particularly to regional country areas) and interstate work requiring overnight stays may be required.
- A current South Australian Drivers Licence and a willingness to drive are essential.
