Manager, Line 1 Risk, Compliance
**About the Role**
As Manager, Line 1 Compliance, you will play a critical role in embedding and enhancing regulatory compliance capability across the BOQ Group Divisions. This role supports the implementation of BOQ Group’s Compliance Strategy and standards, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and fostering a proactive risk culture. You’ll work closely with Business Unit leaders, Line 2 (Group Risk), and other stakeholders to provide pragmatic compliance advice, design and implement effective controls, and monitor adherence to internal and external compliance requirements. This role is instrumental in ensuring compliance is owned and managed at the source, strengthening the control environment, and driving continuous improvement in compliance practices. You’ll also contribute to risk-in-change assessments, support governance and training initiatives, and lead the implementation of remedial actions to uplift compliance maturity across the Group. This is a leadership opportunity to mentor Compliance Analysts and collaborate across the three lines of defence to deliver best-practice compliance outcomes. This is an initial 24 month contract with potential view to extension.
**About you**
You’re a seasoned compliance professional with deep expertise in regulatory frameworks and risk management, ideally within financial services. You bring a strong understanding of APRA, ASIC, and other regulatory bodies, and have a proven track record in designing and implementing effective compliance controls. Your analytical mindset and attention to detail enable you to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, business-aligned solutions. You’re confident in conducting control gap assessments, compliance monitoring, and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement. You’re a clear and persuasive communicator, capable of engaging and influencing stakeholders across all levels. Your ability to simplify complex concepts and deliver actionable insights makes you a trusted advisor within the business. A bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related field is essential, and professional certifications such as AACI or ACI 10980NAT will be highly regarded. Your experience with compliance monitoring tools, systems, and your proficiency in Microsoft Office will support your success in this role.
