The Principal Commercial Analyst within the Victorian State Department is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of energy market modelling and providing strategic commercial advice. The Principal Commercial Analyst is a key member of the team, providing expert advice and information to our key stakeholders. Success in the role requires the incumbent to be well organised, have a high level of attention to detail, strong stakeholder management skills and have a service orientation that helps the Victorian State Department's Implementation Office report quality information on a timely basis.

**Accountabilities**
- Provide senior executives within the Victorian State Departments Implementation Office strategic advice on the Victorian energy market and Victorian regulatory policy.
- Lead development of strategic commercial advice to assist the achievement of the department's objectives.
- Build strong relationships with, and be able to influence, key stakeholders such as peer jurisdictions, energy market institutions and industry and consumer stakeholders.
- Lead qualitative and quantitative analysis on energy markets and undertake energy market modelling.
- Prepare and review a variety of written communications including reports in a clear, appropriate and unambiguous manner.
- Communicate specialist information to a variety of stakeholders.
- Contribute to projects and services undertaken by the branch as required.

**Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications**
- The position requires a detailed level of understanding the operation of the Victorian and national energy markets.
- Experience working within a business operating environment that supports performance excellence by synthesising large amounts of data into actionable insights.
- Experience in providing commercial advice in the context of investment decisions.

**Highly regarded (one or multiple of the following)**:
An appropriate business, accounting, commercial or finance related qualification is desirable.
