**Who we are**
The Portfolio Strategy Division is the department's central policy area. The division supports our ministers and the department to engage with and communicate about complex challenges in Australian climate, energy, environment and water policy. We lead on the Cabinet and Budget processes, strategic policy, First Nations policy, whole-of-portfolio projects, and work to build the department's policy capability.

The Communication and Media Branch delivers strategic products and services that put our audiences first. We communicate to all Australians about the department’s work building a more prosperous and sustainable country. We connect our department and help grow its culture. Our teams are dynamic and respectful, our staff have integrity and value others, and we empower people to grow. Our work includes managing and delivering communications and media activities in support of the department and its ministers. This encompasses strategic (external) communication, corporate (internal) communication, and media. We create, deliver and evaluate communication strategies, campaigns, research, procurement and event management to support the priorities of the department and government. We also manage the department’s public face, including digital platforms and websites, social media channels, the department’s Contact Centre, and provide media support. We also offer the department a suite of creative services including video production and design.

The Social Media team within the Campaigns and Social Media section manages the department’s social media presence, including developing and delivering engaging social media content, and measuring its effectiveness. We work with our clients across the department to create best-practice content in line with our social media style guide and strategy.

The Communication Strategy and Services sections provide strategic communications advice to our divisional clients. We develop communication strategies and plans to support the delivery of the department’s policies and programs, as well as connecting our clients with digital, creative and procurement services.

The Corporate Communications and Creative Services section drives employee engagement through events and storytelling to ensure staff are aware of the department’s strategic priorities. The section provides communication support to the Secretary and executive as well as developing, implementing and evaluating corporate communication strategies, managing the department’s internal communication channels and delivering event activities.

**The Job**

There are several communications officer positions available across the branch. Applicants who are merit listed for a position may be considered for future roles for up to 18 months.

Communications Officer - Campaigns and Social Media.
This exciting role in a friendly team will:

- Support the management of the department’s social media channels including creating, scheduling, monitoring and reporting on content for a range of platforms.
- Coordinate client requests, adding value and making recommendations where appropriate.
- Contribute to the evolution of the department’s social media strategy, style guide and other projects to maximise performance and impact.
- Work creatively, collaboratively and cooperatively as a positive member of the team and contribute own expertise to ideas, projects and tasks.

Communications Officer - Communication Strategy and Services.
We are looking for several high-performing professionals who are ready to make a positive impact. You will be a good writer, a personable team-mate and an effective collaborator with clients and colleagues. Your proactive, flexible and result-focused approach to work will ensure your success. Under routine supervision, this diverse role will provide communication strategy and service support. This will include:

- Building relationships with clients to help understand their needs, influence and shape their communication approach.
- Briefing delivery teams and external suppliers, such as graphic design and video production.
- Writing content for a range of channels, including web, digital, social media and publications.
- Working closely with branch colleagues, such as web publishing and social media, to deliver communication tactics.
- Evaluating and reporting on the impact of our work.
- Arranging and participating in meetings, events and working groups.
- Providing internal communication and administrative support, such as managing the team mailbox.
