Research Officer

**(HE06) $89,383 to $96,550 per annum plus an employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.**

**Full-time fixed term position for 12 months**

The Neurogenetics Research Program is a multidisciplinary research team that studies the genetic causes and underlying molecular mechanisms of childhood disorders of the brain and nervous system such as epilepsy, learning, and movement disorders. This NHMRC funded position works within the theme of epilepsy research, supporting the activities of the broader neurogenetics research program as required.

**To be successful you will need**:

- Demonstrated ability to promote the organisational values of integrity, respect, collegiality, excellence and discovery, and a commitment to positively comply with the associated behaviour expectations.
- Demonstrated experience in genetics, neuroscience or a related area of medical research.
- Substantial experience in laboratory protocols and technical procedures, including nucleic acid and protein extraction, sequence library preparation, cell and tissue culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, qPCR, western blotting and quantitative analysis of data.
- Familiarity with laboratory management and safety procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to keep accurate records, accurately catalogue samples and confidential data.
