About the Role
As our Conference & Events Manager, you’ll be the strategic and operational leader driving the success of our hotel’s entire Conference & Events function. From the moment a client enquiry lands in your inbox to the final post-event debrief, you’ll own the full event journey — ensuring every interaction is polished, every detail is executed flawlessly, and every opportunity is maximised for commercial and reputational gain.
You’ll lead a high-performing team responsible for conferences, meetings, weddings, VIP functions and bespoke corporate events. Your day-to-day will include managing the event sales pipeline, developing tailored proposals, overseeing all logistics, and collaborating with internal departments to deliver seamless service.
This is not just a coordination role — it's a revenue-driving, relationship-building, standards-setting leadership position. You’ll be expected to balance creative thinking with operational discipline, mentor junior team members, and work hand-in-hand with the Director of Sales & Marketing to grow the business, increase margins, and elevate Stamford’s standing as a premier event destination in Sydney.
**What You'll Be Doing**:
Manage the full event lifecycle — from client enquiry and proposal through to on-the-day delivery and post-event feedback
Convert leads into confirmed bookings across all event types, including conferences, board meetings, gala dinners, weddings and bespoke functions
Prepare tailored event proposals, negotiate terms, and confidently upsell premium hotel offerings including AV, F&B, and accommodation packages
Lead and develop a small team of Event Coordinators and casuals, ensuring service consistency, operational readiness and team accountability
Oversee daily BEOs, forecasting and reporting — maintaining accuracy, alignment to budget, and proactive communication with the Director of Sales & Marketing
Collaborate closely with internal departments (Sales, Banquets, Kitchen, F&B, Front Office) to ensure every event runs smoothly and guest expectations are exceeded
Contribute to business improvement initiatives and C&E marketing campaigns, identifying opportunities to increase event revenue and elevate brand presence
Drive compliance with WHS, Code of Conduct and event-specific risk assessments, especially for large or high-profile functions
**What we're looking for**:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar leadership role in a 4-5 star hotel
Proven experience managing high-volume or large-scale conferences & social events
Strong commercial acumen with ability to hit and exceed revenue targets
High-level client communication skills and attention to detail
Confident managing teams, rosters, coaching, and performance development
Availability to work across weekdays, weekends and peak event periods
