We have commenced our transformational 5-year growth strategy, it's exciting times to join us as Maintenance/Engineering Manager for our Jalco Hornsby site.

**About this opportunity**

This position is responsible for engineering projects, plant and machinery maintenance at Jalco Cosmetics.

As Engineering Maintenence Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all maintenance planning of equipment used in production and related areas as well as attending any breakdowns of machinery. You will oversee all engineering and site projects through allocation of internal staff and external contractors as required as well as ensuring the quality of work.

You will also ensure that the production team follow all relevant company procedures and filling instructions in consideration of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as well as Work Health & Safety (WH&S) principles to ensure products are produced to meet the required customer specification, are of a high-quality standard and are produced safely.

**Your key responsibilities will be to**:

- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in all production and warehouse areas, ensuring compliance to GMP standards as per BRC and TGA requirements as well as compliance with established site Safety, GMP and Quality policies and procedures.
- Maintain workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation between departments. In collaboration with Engineering, Quality and R&D, develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors when necessary.
- Identify, plan and improve the maintenance schedule to encompass all assets on the site (Inclusive of buildings, services and machinery)
- Identify, plan and implement key projects to improve quality, reduce factory waste, increase productivity & efficiency resulting in significant business improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Lead, monitor and supervise the maintenance team to contribute to the growth of the organisation. Inspire the team to improve and grow their skill sets.
- Lead the team by example through the completion of maintenance related tasks. Possess a sense of pride and achievement in the work and always strive to improve.
- Liaise with finance and other members of the organization in assessing, tracking and reporting the financial benefit of a Cost Saving project.
- Cooperate with other departments to ensure that process and equipment meets the requirements or specified standards.
- Responsible for corrective actions and initiate preventive measures for any re occurrence of non-conformities relating process and systems.
- Maintaining all necessary records.
- Ensure all contractors that come on site have been formerly inducted with permits and JSEAs filled out correctly.
- Work with suppliers and contractors to ensure materials received are of acceptable quality and arrive on time.
- Analyse the risk of process failure and inspect/ test plant machinery and equipment.
- Lead and facilitate production LEAN process improvement.
- Support the delivery of better value and greater efficiency through the identification and elimination of unnecessary complexity within business processes and identification of better ways of working
- Work with other team members and business services departments to devise new support based on the revised processes, to include training, reporting and systems enhancements.
- Ensure operation/ improvement of equipment by calling for repairs or service; in collaboration with Engineering and Production evaluate new equipment and techniques.

**Your skills and experience**

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

- Tertiary qualification in S.T.E.M field.
- Solid experience in an Engineering or Maintenance role
- Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and maintenance scheduling (Ideally MEX)
- Understanding of continuous improvement concepts including Six Sigma, Lean, value stream mapping
- Experience of hands-on implementation of continuous improvement programs and Lean solutions
- Strong knowledge of Maintenance, Process, Production Engineering and Technical Services / Validation required.
- Ability to respond to changing priorities.
- Ability to prepare budgets and control expenditures.
- SAP Operational knowledge
