About the role
The Performance Management Office ( PMO) Lead plays a critical role in enhancing business performance by developing and maintaining governance frameworks, assurance processes, and best-practice tools for capital investments across all project phases. This role ensures compliance with the Capital Investment System (CIS) and Project Controls System (PCS) while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in major project management.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Governance & Assurance**: Establish and maintain robust governance standards, procedures, guidelines, tools, and templates to optimise capital investments. Ensure compliance with the Capital Investment System (CIS) and Project Controls System (PCS) through audits, risk management, and independent peer reviews.
**Project Controls & Risk Management**: Assist in standardising key business systems, including scheduling, risk management, and reporting, to enhance project execution and oversight. Conduct risk management audits to mitigate potential issues.
**Stakeholder Collaboration**: Work closely with project teams, senior leadership, and cross-functional departments to enhance project governance, align investment strategies with business goals, and ensure seamless capital investment execution.
**Sustainability & Compliance Assurance**: Ensure major projects align with Sustainability Performance Standards, conducting reviews and technical due diligence for potential portfolio additions.
**Training & Continuous Improvement**: Conduct training sessions and knowledge-sharing initiatives to embed best practices in project management. Identify and implement process improvements to drive operational excellence.
**Post-Completion Reviews**: Lead and participate in post-completion reviews of major projects, assessing outcomes and lessons learned to refine future investment strategies.
By integrating governance and continuous improvement, the PMO Lead ensures that capital investments maximise value and align with organisational objectives.
About you
This role is ideal for a dynamic and detail-oriented professional with a strong foundation in project management, governance, and risk management, particularly within the mining or similar industries. A tertiary qualification in a technical or business discipline is essential, with postgraduate or industry-led qualifications in project management being highly desirable. With over seven years of experience in project management, preferably in an owner organisation, you will bring expertise in study and project execution.
Success in this role requires strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with experience in working with project management software and tools. Experience in conducting project audits and reviews, as well as implementing continuous improvement initiatives, will be key to driving business performance. Attention to detail, technical expertise in governance and assurance, and the ability to ensure project risks are effectively captured and managed by the project managers are all critical skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential, enabling you to collaborate across teams, influence stakeholders, and guide project teams effectively. You should be comfortable overseeing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining h
