Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a mining industry experienced environmental compliance and sustainability expert to fill the newly created role ofLead, Environmental Performance with the confidence and skills to support the sustainability site specific teams across Newmont’s mine operations in Australia and Papua New Guinea. Reporting to the Director, Environmental Performance, the primary purpose of this role will be to lead and monitor environmental performance inclusive of compliance programs to ensure adherence to internal and external compliance through audits, training and collaboration.
You will bring considerable experience in delivering environmental compliance across a broad range of environmental aspects and be deeply knowledgeable about sustainability standards within a geographically dispersed global mining operations company. Your significant experience in systems and processes will ground your confidence in a leadership role to oversee best fit compliance programs, monitoring and enabling environmental performance requirements and risk tracking through cross-functional team collaboration and effective internal and external stakeholder engagement across a diverse portfolio of mine site operations.
**Essentially, you will have**:
- Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Environmental Science/Management, Environmental Engineering)
- Significant experience in a similar role gained within a global mining operator - Proficient skills in environmental standards and compliance systems (i.e. Enablon)
- Expert knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability standards
- Full employment eligibility to work in Australia.
The position will be permanent and offered on a fully flexible hybrid/work from home basis and if successful, it will be anticipated you will be a seasoned professional accustomed to working from home while utilising the Newmont capital city office hub when required to be effective in your role.
