Principal Advisor – Licensing, Performance & Compliance

Full time, 12months+

At the Office of Industrial Relations (OIR), we're passionate about protecting workers' rights and ensuring safer workplaces across Queensland. As part of our Workers' Compensation Regulatory Services (WCRS) team, you'll be at the heart of regulating insurers, improving rehabilitation and return-to-work outcomes, and ensuring compliance with workers' compensation laws.

As Principal Advisor, Licensing, Performance and Compliance, you'll:

• Lead the licensing of self-insurers and provide high-level advice to senior stakeholders.

• Monitor and improve insurer performance, ensuring fairness and transparency across the scheme.

• Drive strategic projects and build strong relationships across industry and government.

• Contribute to initiatives that directly support injured workers on their journey back to meaningful employment.

Key capabilities for this role include:

Applies technical knowledge

• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver strategic advice, analyse trends and identifying emerging issues impacting the workers' compensation scheme or insurers to senior management.


• Demonstrated practical experience and knowledge of contemporary regulatory practices and compliance management strategies and well-developed skills to deliver operational processes and procedures.


• Knowledge of or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of Queensland's workers' compensation scheme. Drives accountability and outcomes


• Demonstrated ability to prioritise projects and tasks efficiently, in line with team commitments to meet regulatory timeframes or performance targets in complex and dynamic environments


• Demonstrated ability to make considered, ethical decisions based on insights into the broader context by remaining composed during high level situations, supporting the team and recognising opportunities to seek advice to enable a prompt and objective response Builds enduring relationships


• Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills in the areas of communication, presentation, conflict resolution, consultation and negotiation in the area of workers' compensation, regulatory, insurance, financial or business environments.

You will be required to prepare for and represent the organisation professionally at forums and meetings with key stakeholders.
