This is a high profile, strategic role responsible for contributing towards delivery of the sustainable finance and net zero strategy, and growing HSBC’s income in the sector. In doing so, you will assist the broader commercial banking team in growing and delivering ESG solutions and products to support our clients achieve their ESG ambitions.
Working closely with relationship managers and product partners, you will lead ESG client engagement, and originate, structure and execute sustainable finance transactions across a broad range of products, services and markets. You will have the opportunity to build relationships with regional counterparts across the HSBC network, while engaging with the external marketplace and stakeholders representing HSBC and the organisation’s ESG aspirations.
**_Your main responsibilities will include:_**
- Continue to drive regional and global connectivity, support in management of the sustainable finance pipeline and performance measurement
- Building on and driving the momentum in sustainable finance coverage and strategy through local expertise and tapping into regional ESG and market specialists.
- Leveraging HSBC’s ESG leading brand, capability and objectives to deliver on our financed net zero commitments.
- Continuing to progress and cement HSBC’s leadership position in ESG and sustainable finance through ongoing client engagement, marketing opportunities, HSBC events and participation in internal and external events and initiatives.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to produce and maintain sales enabling materials for Relationship Managers
- Originating, structuring and executing sustainable financing transactions across a broad product suite.
- Maintaining strong stakeholder engagement and effective communication, demonstrating leadership with key stakeholders across the global business.
- Supporting development of relationship managers in ESG and sustainable finance, building best practice.
- Speaking up and challenging the status quo to drive improvements, to make HSBC a better workplace for colleagues and a better business partner for our clients.
- Maintaining a strong focus on risk management, best practices and sound governance and controls.
Requirements
**_To be successful in this role, you will need:_**
- Experience and a strong interest in the area of sustainable finance and ESG principles, with a sound understanding of debt financing essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, to produce high quality client materials, discern legal documentation and draft approval and management papers.
- Strong problem solving and research skills, resourcefulness, judgement and determination in getting to the right outcome.
- A high level of curiosity, ability and desire to learn, shape and adapt financing solutions in an evolving space.
- An ability to work on your own initiative and the courage to be able to challenge pre-conceptions
- The role will require sound base of understanding in some combination of economics, law, mathematics.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint.
