The People, Property and Security Division works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable organisational capability. This includes integrity; conduct; fraud and corruption; performance management; rehabilitation management; recruitment; learning and development; inclusion and diversity; workforce planning and analytics; workplace relations; people support; culture and change; workplace health and safety, property and security.
The People and Policy Branch are the front line of human resources (HR) for the department. We deliver timely and accurate responses to various client groups. Supporting our people across the country with a strong focus on customer service and building trusting relationships with employees and business areas. Offering general and specialist HR advice and case management services, for issues related to workplace relations, performance, probation, recruitment, attendance, behaviour, and workplace rehabilitation.
**The Recruitment **Section provides assistance and support to the department by providing advice on matters including, but not limited to; recruitment planning, advertising vacancies, engagement and extensions of non
- ongoing employees, engagement and extension of external workers, eRecruit guidance and support, Expressions of Interest, Transfers between agencies and secondments, accessing merit pools, advice on affirmative measure positions, reasonable adjustments and the merit principle.
**The Jobs**
HR officers are responsible for providing advice and delivering services which assist in managing the employee life cycle, including recruitment and selection and onboarding. HR Officers provide administrative support to various teams, and advice based on legislation, policy or procedure.
This round will be used to fill roles in Recruitment and the People Support Service Centre.
Key duties of the role include:
- providing high quality and consistent HR advice, maintaining high-level customer service to all stakeholders both verbally and in writing
- managing customer enquiries in an accurate and timely manner
- maintaining a well-developed understanding of relevant legislation and policy frameworks (e.g. Enterprise Agreement and HR policies)
- supporting overall team success by collaborating, sharing ideas and knowledge
- identifying and contributing to continuous process improvements
- accurate and timely record keeping and filing
- prioritising and escalating urgent enquiries with the Team Leader where necessary
- developing and managing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- assisting in the delivery of projects and tasks allocated by the Team Leader and Assistant Director.
**Please note **that this recruitment process will be used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions across the sections listed above. If an offer of non-ongoing employment is made, the successful applicant would be employed for an initial period of 18 months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 3 years in total. Some of these non-ongoing positions may become ongoing in the next 18 months. Should a position become ongoing then the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis. The merit pool may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.

- experience in human resources in a government environment (or similar) and the ability to quickly learn legislative requirements that govern our processes
- experience in provision of HR advice and providing high quality customer service across a diverse organisation.
