The role
As the Principal Project Officer, you will lead the development, evaluation and management of statewide reforms, systems, and processes to support compliance with the Mental Health Act 2016 and protect the rights of consumers.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice about the Mental Health Act 2016 and other legislation or system-wide policies and procedures that impact on the rights and interests of consumers.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate a broad range of compliance interventions including audits, reporting, investigations, education, and other initiatives, to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2016 and that the statutory responsibilities of the Chief Psychiatrist are fulfilled.
- Employ and promote commitment to restorative harm minimisation strategies to ensure the effective administration of the Act and advance consumer outcomes, by fostering a culture of trust, learning and accountability.
- Proactively engage, build rapport, and foster collaborative relationships with relevant stakeholders to promote the effective performance of statutory functions, identify and promote examples of good practice and address clinical governance and system issues for continuous quality improvements.
The successful person
**The essential requirements for this role are**:
- Expert knowledge of the interpretation and requirements of the Mental Health Act 2016 and associated policy or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge.
- High level analytical skills, including the ability to interpret and analyse policy, data and information, develop solutions to complex problems and provide high quality advice.
- High level project management skills including the ability to manage and evaluate projects, utilise relevant systems and effectively integrate related activities to achieve project deliverables and outcomes.
- High level interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to consult, negotiate and manage stakeholder relationships.
