**About the role**:
The Population Strategy and Migration Team is responsible for migration policy and migration programs, to meet critical skill shortages in the local labour market; as well as entrepreneurs, business and investors to establish a presence in South Australia and contribute to our economic prosperity. The Team is also responsible for population policy, which focuses on retaining, attracting and utilising the people needed to deliver on the state’s economic ambition and maximise economic growth.

As the Policy Officer, Migration, you will work closely with the team, to support the development and evaluation of responses to complex matters related to skilled migration, and the broader economy, including workforce. You will analyse South Australia’s skilled migration data to assist with program evaluation and policy refinements and contribute to the delivery and management of efficient work practices and systems within the Team. You will also provide timely and high-quality skilled migration policy advice to the Agency Executive and the Minister, as well as contribute to high level, strategic development of skilled migration policy objectives.

**Key Competencies**:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly develop a good understanding of, skilled migration and associated economic concepts, frameworks, requirements and opportunities.
- Conceptual and policy analytical thinking skills, with a capacity to interpret and synthesise disparate information at the macro level.
- Some knowledge of recent policies and trends in the Australian and South Australian migration system and an understanding of the influences and drivers for these policies and trends.
- Strong written, verbal, data and IT system skills.

You will also be able to:

- Analyse and evaluate complex issues to provide migration policy advice.
- Manage and coordinate often competing projects and priorities in a busy work environment.
- Work independently and/or collaboratively as part of a team under limited direction, including identifying performance outcomes, scheduling tasks, and balancing priorities to achieve desired results and deadlines.
- Succinctly analyse and write high quality submissions and policy documents.

**Remuneration**:
Competitive salary $85,790 to $95,143 pa plus superannuation

**Special Conditions**:

- The role will be offered as a full-time (37.5 hours per week), ongoing position.
- A Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) will be required prior to employment.
