**Role Description/Criteria**

We are seeking a Learning Support Officer who has a commitment to the ethos of Catholic Education and to the safety and wellbeing of the students.

**Core Duties**:

- Working with children with differing needs either in the classroom setting or on an individual basis.
- If required, group work with small groups of children with similar needs.
- Tasks that need to be undertaken will be designated by the Class Teacher and/or Learning Enhancement Teacher.
- As other children are identified as requiring intervention, programs will be implemented so that the LSO may meet these children's needs.
- Assistance may be required in other ways not directly in support of the child, but in a way which assists the Class Teacher in facilitating the overall learning support.
- Close liaison with the Learning Diversity Leader and Learning Enhancement Teachers is expected.
- Liaison with the specialist visiting teacher is vital so that all the needs of the child are met and so that the tasks required by both complement each other.
- Attendance at Parent Support Group meetings may be requirement of the position from time to time and these will be held each term. During these meetings a review will be discussed of the goals that have be set and implemented and if necessary new goals will be set for the following term.
- At all times there will be a strict code of confidentially regarding children involved in any program.
- Duties and time tabling of such duties may vary according to the needs of the school and at the discretion of the Principal
- At peak times of the year other duties may be required (filing, reporting, school events).

**Child Safety**:

- Provide students with a child-safe environment
- Be familiar with and comply with St Oliver Plunkett Primary School Child-Safe policy and code of conduct, and other policies and procedures relating to child safety
- Exercise pastoral care in a manner which reflects St Oliver Plunkett Primary School’s values and vision.
- To have a knowledge of the Child Safe Standards and the protocols for reporting in line with Ministerial Order 1359 to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.

**Special Requirements**
- include the contact details of three referees and include a copy of a current and valid working with children's check.
