**About the team**:
The Business Grants Hub Division (BGH) manages the design and delivery of grant programs on behalf of 11 Commonwealth agencies, including our own department, overseeing over $7b in government investment in Australian businesses.
Grants play a critical role in:
- supporting growth in businesses and industries
- fostering research and innovation
- strengthening communities
- helping the environment
- providing emergency relief.
We deliver end-to-end grant delivery services through a national network. Our grant delivery service is underpinned by strong enabling functions including management of grant assurance and compliance activities, data and technology, workforce planning as well as delivery of continuous improvement projects.
With over 400 people located across the country, we’re a dynamic, collaborative, and forward-thinking division committed to delivering high-quality outcomes that make a real difference for Australians.
**The opportunity**:
We are seeking highly motivated Assistant Managers to join our Program Design, Delivery, Policy and Technology teams. If you are strategic, adaptable and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you apply.
We are looking for individuals who:
- demonstrate strong leadership, including experience managing and motivating geographically dispersed teams, building capability, addressing conflict and underperformance and supporting a positive and inclusive culture.
- have excellent relationship management skills and can engage productively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- have highly proficient oral and written communication skills and able to develop clear targeted communications on complex concepts for diverse audiences.
- exercise sound judgement and strategic thinking to navigate competing priorities and provide clear, considered advice.
- are able to resolve complex problems and sensitive issues, drawing on critical thinking and evidence-based decision making.
- have excellent general IT and systems skills or able to quickly gain knowledge of the department’s grants management and other systems.
Experience in policy, grant program design, delivery, and/or management is desirable, however transferable skills and relevant experience in policy, design, delivery and/or management of programs or shared services will also be considered.
**What you will do**:
Reporting to a Manager, you will undertake complex work under broad direction to facilitate the production of high-quality outcomes. Key responsibilities include:
- leading and managing a team that may be geographically dispersed, including establishing expectations, scheduling and reviewing work, providing clear and consistent communications and developing capability.
- assessing and managing risk, including escalating issues that may affect delivery, resourcing or timelines.
- keeping senior staff informed and providing strategic advice and solutions based on good judgment and an understanding of priorities.
- using several internal systems and tools including grants and customer relationship management, ensuring input of quality information and data.
- contribute to building a positive and productive workplace culture.
In addition to the general key duties outlined above, your key responsibilities will differ based on your team.
**Program Design and Delivery teams**
- lead and support the development, delivery and/or management of public-facing government programs according to legislative requirements, guidelines, performance standards and governance frameworks.
- communicate and engage regularly with funded organisations and stakeholders including businesses, industry groups and other government agencies.
- monitor program delivery to ensure compliance with grant agreements.
