Provide Human Factors expertise to a newly formed program team to design and deliver a Group wide critical risk enhancement program focusing on Qantas’s highest priority people safety risks- Key leadership opportunity with a strong focus on safety and human factors- Challenge yourself to work across a broad range of operations and on exciting initiatives such as aircraft and equipment, worksite and work task design- 18-month fixed term position with flexibility to be based at any location around Australia

The role of Principal Human Factors Specialist is a key leadership role within the Qantas Group Health and Human Performance and Safety team, providing Human Factors expertise, advice, guidance, innovation and support across the Qantas group.

Critically, it plays a key role in ensuring Human Factor requirements are appropriately integrated in safety management and business activities along with a strong commitment to business improvement and willingness to support change and ‘make things happen’, including Human Factors in risk assessments, design and procurement, change management, selection and training, investigations, audits, and safety reporting / data analysis.

This role will be instrumental in the designing and launching of exciting Group-wide safety programs and initiatives around the companies critical risk enhancement programs. such as the introduction of new equipment, systemic reviews, work site analysis, task and process design, introducing innovative training solutions, or developing creative solutions for complex operational challenges.

You’ll have:
- Experience integrating human factors into safety management systems- Experience and qualifications in training design, development and delivery- Operational experience within a high-risk industry (preferably aviation) as a safety professional- Tertiary qualifications in Human Factors, Psychology, or a related discipline- Comprehensive knowledge of the technical and regulatory requirements in the aviation industry (desirable)-
- Ability to build rapport with internal and external stake holders and work collaboratively with the business units in the Qantas Group to deliver projects
