**Position Information**:
Located in the Girraween network, Northmead Public School opened in 1924 with current student enrolment numbers of 650. The school has a diverse population with approximately 50% from a language background other than English. Less than 1% of student population identify as being Aboriginal. The school provides a safe, compassionate, stimulating learning and wellbeing environment where everyone is encouraged to continually improve and where the practice and understanding of students, families, staff and whole school community align with the values and goals of the NSW DoE Strategic Plan and the School Excellence Framework (SEF). The school has a committed, collaborative and dedicated staff with a mixture of experienced and early career teachers and a proactive parent community. Current priorities include growth and attainment in literacy and numeracy, capacity building for staff and students and the development of wellbeing in an inclusive school environment. Northmead's school culture promotes respectful and cooperative partnerships with all members of our community. Extra curricular opportunities in creative and performing arts, sport, public speaking and leadership forums enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences. As part of our school's External Validation process (2023), founded upon the extensive evaluation by staff, student and community contributions, we have identified the following curriculum areas for future growth. - Strengthen curriculum provisions with evidence-based teaching practices providing a high expectations framework, within which all students effectively develop their knowledge, understanding and skills. - Ensuring all staff have a deep understanding of assessment and data skills and use and their place in teaching and learning. - Embed collaborative planning, teaching and feedback into regular practice across grades and stages.

- Demonstrated highly strategic and instructional leadership to develop collective responsibility for improvement, innovation and change focused on student growth and achievement aligned to the NPS School Improvement Plan and NSW Plan for Public Education
- Proven visible leadership with high emotional intelligence and demonstrated capacity to engage the whole school community in a supportive environment
- Proven capacity to lead, inspire and model a culture of high expectations for staff, students, and the community, which promotes highly effective, current educational practices to facilitate student success in actively shaping their future.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
