**The Organisation**

The Housing Industry Association is Australia’s peak residential building industry body representing builders, trade contractors, manufacturers, suppliers and related industry participants. As a national industry organisation, HIA's primary role is to represent and advance the interests of its members.

**The Role**

This role is designed to grow our Apprentices business by actively recruiting new host trainers and apprentices, providing a quality field service program for these apprentices and host trainers, and ensuring the program is effective and conducted in accordance with HIA policies, procedures and practices.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Recruitment of new host trainers and apprentices in accordance with HIA Apprentices policies, procedures and practices.
- On an ongoing basis, monitoring host trainers ability and/or capacity to train apprentices to meet established training programs and standards.
- Conducting workplace performance assessments of all apprentices.
- Conducting counselling meetings as necessary to ensure disciplinary standards and procedures are met.
- Providing advice, to host trainers and apprentices, regarding their legal and contractual obligations under their training agreements.
- Assisting, as necessary, with promotional events such as Career Markets, Expos, HIA Trade Nights, Regional Meetings and Information Nights.

**To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate**:

- An ability to generate and secure new business;
- High level of interpersonal skills and personal presentation;
- Well-developed work organisation skills, high levels of self-motivation, and the ability to work with limited supervision;
- Strong and energetic work ethic for doing a job well, with a desire to grow;
- Understanding and full commitment to WHS; and
- Confidence to make urgent on the spot decisions when necessary.

A proven sales record, knowledge of the Apprenticeship system and knowledge of industrial award conditions and wage schedules applicable to the apprenticeship system would be viewed favourably.
