**Who we are**
People Division, led by the Chief People Officer (CPO), provides human resources (HR) functions for the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the department) with a clear focus on the department’s most valued asset: its staff. Alongside contemporary HR functions, projects and strategies People Division is also responsible for:

- enhancing the department’s focus on safety,
- enterprise bargaining
- cultural and change management
- professional and ethical standards, and
- the department’s response to Australian Public Service (APS) Reforms.

The Professional, Ethical Standards and Security Branch is responsible for:

- Professional and Ethical Standards
- Personnel, Information and Capability Security
- Enterprise Change Management functions, and
- the department’s Sustainability Taskforce.

Professional and Ethical Standards sets the integrity policy framework for the department, and works to prevent, detect, and respond to internal fraud, corruption and misconduct, liaising closely with internal stakeholders to build a pro-integrity culture through positive workplace values and behaviours.

The vacancies advertised are within the Strategy, Policy and Engagement Section, which are responsible for managing the department’s integrity framework, including reviewing and updating integrity related policies. The team are the point of contact for general integrity engagement for the department, such as developing integrity training and awareness sessions and preparing integrity communication. The team are the coordination point for all executive reporting, data reporting and trend monitoring.

You will contribute to strategic and project work within the branch, including by supporting building awareness and understanding of the department’s processes for managing reports of inappropriate behaviour, fraud and corruption disclosable conduct and serious and systemic corrupt conduct.

The merit pool established from this process may be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the team where the duties are of a similar nature.

**The Job**
As a Strategy Policy and Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for:

- Contributing to the development of integrity related policies, procedures, guidelines and other governance material.
- Support the delivery of integrity engagement training and awareness sessions and activities including scheduling, tracking attendance and preparing promotional communication.
- Develop communication and engagement products.
- Prepare and review web content.
- Provide input and draft high-level, strategic and operational briefs including for Senate Estimates, Executive Board and for other Committees.
- Fostering a culture of professionalism, inclusiveness, respect, and price in the delivery of high-quality work.
- Working effectively with stakeholders across the department to drive prevention initiatives, including outreach, communication and awareness raising.

**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
- Experience working in a policy role, including preparing policy advice and briefing material.
- Experience in developing and delivering training and engagement activities.
- Experience in developing and implementing innovative tools and resources to promote awareness of integrity related policy, procedures and guidelines.
- Demonstrate flexibility and manage day-to-day work changes and shifting priorities effectively.

**Skills and capabilities**
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare quality briefings, submissions for senior management, committees, and Government decisions.
- A high level of personal drive and integrity, taking personal responsibility and initiative for meeting objectives and progressing work.
- Good interpersonal skills to build and cultivate productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to deliver shared outcomes.
- Organised and able to work independently and as part of a team.

**Eligibility**
**Citizenship**:

- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.

**Security Clearance** - This position requires a **Baseline Vetting** security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.

**Pre-employment Check** - Your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months.
