**About the Opportunity**
As a Quality Controller at Comtech, you will be responsible for conducting product inspections, interpreting technical drawings and CAD designs, and making independent decisions about part quality. Your role will directly impact Comtech’s reputation for excellence in product quality through:
- Conducting thorough inspections of finished goods, incoming materials, and materials in-process to identify and quarantine rejects or concerns.
- Maintaining accurate records to support incoming and outgoing material traceability.
- Preparing and issuing Defective Material Reports (DMRs) to suppliers, and reviewing customer DMRs and rework requests, facilitating appropriate actions.
- Performing first article inspections and approving/disapproving continuation of production as required.
- Identifying and analysing quality-related issues, reporting trends within the organisation periodically.
- Producing ISIRs and source material documentation for PPAP and PSW submissions.
- Contributing to the development and upkeep of documented quality processes and procedures.
- Identify gaps and proposing practical improvements to existing inspection procedures.
- Communicating and managing quality issues internally, as well as with customers and suppliers.
- Current Queensland Open Motor Vehicle Licence.
- Competent in reading Engineering Drawings, including tolerance information, and proficient in using 3D CAD software (e.g., Solidworks, Catia V5).
- Competent using measuring equipment such as verniers and preferably experienced with 3D measuring devices (CMMs).
- Competent using colour spectrometers or ability to quickly learn.
- Experience in automotive OEM or similar high-quality standard environment.
- Experience in ISO 9001, TS 16949, or similarly audited environments.
- Excellent data accuracy, filing, and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to converse directly with clients and suppliers.
- Experience with ERP or MRP systems.
- Understanding of APQP and PPAP principles highly regarded.
- Formal technical qualification such as BE Mech Eng or similar (or studying/aspiring) highly advantageous.
