**The Role**
Reporting to the Assistant Director, this position is responsible for:
- Supporting strategic advice on external budget matters and fiscal settings for internal stakeholders, including the Executive and portfolio Ministers.
- Supporting policy areas throughout the development of costings underpinning policy proposals, and
- Preparing initial advice on external funding priorities and pressures to inform the development of multi-year investment strategies across forward budget cycles.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
Working alongside the whole team, responsibilities of an APS6 External Budgets, Costings and Finance Officer may include:
- Supporting the development of costings and ASL bids alongside policy areas across the Group, also providing advice to Executives on costings as they are shepherded through the process.
- Providing advice to policy areas considering the broader fiscal narrative in budget processes, Budget Process Operational Rules, Commonwealth Resource Management Framework and other Whole-of-Australian-Government rules, alongside the External Budgets Branch.
- Supporting the development of a multi-year fiscal and investment strategy for the portfolio, informing budget phasing.
- Identifying opportunities to promote best practice and uplift capability in costings development across the Group, which could include arranging training or developing reference materials.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders on budget matters.
