**Budget Policy and Costing Consultant**

**The Opportunity**

As you will be a part of our growing external budgets team there’s potential for growth while you can also benefit from the experience of working with diverse clients.
**The Role**
- Provide advice on the Commonwealth Budget policy proposals and associated financial workings to policy areas, Group Finance Partners and CFOs of agencies
- Assist with the development of costings related to the New Policy Proposals that form part of Cabinet Submissions
- Interact with the senior executive and Commonwealth agencies on various budgeting and reporting matters
- Develop and contribute to complex and/or sensitive correspondence
- Review and update financial worksheets as part of the budget cycle
- Develop, update and maintain supporting financial worksheets for submission and consideration by the Department of Finance.
- Manage key budget, statutory reporting and other parliamentary support requirements (including papers for Senate Estimates briefings)

**Your Background and Experience**
- To be eligible for employment, **applicants must be an Australian citizen and must have the ability to obtain and hold an AGSVA Baseline security clearance**.
- A sound knowledge of the Commonwealth Budget process and Resource Management Frameworks
- Interest in the Commonwealth Budget and Cabinet processes including but not limited to Budget Process Operational Rules, Cabinet Submissions and Portfolio Budget Statements
- Demonstrated experience in developing policy and financial analysis
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Powerpoint)
- Strong APS management accounting experience either within or consulting into Commonwealth agencies
- High attention to detail and able to produce quality work in short time frames
- A Bachelor of Policy Studies/Commerce/Business/Economics or equivalent is highly desirable.
