**Job location**

Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.

We address the needs of people experiencing mental health issues, the mental health sector, the justice sector and the general community. These services are delivered through inpatient services at Thomas Embling Hospital, community services through the Community Forensic Mental Health Service and prison-based services at several locations. This position will be based at Thomas Embling Hospital and will be required to work across all Forensicare sites.

Forensicare is situated across five sites across Victoria with its largest site being Thomas Embling Hospital,located in Fairfield just 15 minutes north of the Melbourne city centre.Thomas Embling Hospital is a 136-bed secure hospital providing acute care, rehabilitation and continuing care programs. It includes a dedicated women’s unit.

**About the Role**:

- This position is responsible for efficient maintenance operations and general repairs and will perform a variety of tasks relative to the facility’s maintenance as well as providing support and assistance to the Maintenance Co-Ordinator and Infrastructure and Site Services Department.

**Duties**:

- Undertake the maintenance and repair requirements of the organisation across Thomas Embling Hospital and Community Operations sites to ensure preventative and breakdown/corrective maintenance is carried out to ensure all services are functioning 24/7/365 in accordance with the Essential Safety Measures legislation.
- All works to be carried out in accordance with all OH&S Act /Regulations or Worksafe Guidance requirements.
- All Safe Work Method Statement and/or Job Safety Analysis forms are completed and adhered to for any activity where it is deemed necessary.
- Working in a timely manner to identify and undertake emergency repairs in accordance with hospital safety and security requirements.
- Undertake inspections in accordance with job allocations from the Maintenance Co-ordinator and Head of Infrastructure and Site Services

**About You**:

- Demonstrated experience in general facility maintenance, including painting, plastering and general surface finishing.
- The ability to perform complex maintenance duties and operate related equipment - including a working knowledge of materials, methods, terminology, equipment and tools used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems including those used in performing rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work.
- An understanding of construction and project management principles.
- Capable of functioning with a high level of autonomy, and prioritising his or her own work within established policies, guidelines and procedures.
- Responsible for work performed with a substantial level of accountability and responsibility.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and able to work individually or as part of a team.
- Possesses well developed communication, interpersonal skills.
- May require computer knowledge or be required to use a computer on a regular basis.
- Possesses effective time management, administrative and problem solving abilities.
