**The Department**

The Alfred’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is one of Australia’s leading Intensive Care Units, admitting approximately 3,000 patients per annum. It is a university affiliated, quaternary referral centre, providing State Services for major trauma, heart and lung transplantation (including paediatric lung transplantation), artificial heart technology, extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), burns and hyperbaric medicine. It also provides Victoria Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Hypertension services

**The Role**

The Alfred ICU runs an internationally-recognised education program focused on the clinical and academic strengths of the Unit. This includes all the disciplines of the ICU clinical team (medicine, nursing, allied health) and collaboration with teams outside ICU (Anaesthesia, Emergency, Trauma).

In addition, the Alfred ICU Events team facilitate education programs that are core to the training of intensive care staff in Australia (e.g. ALS, BASIC, & ECMO Courses). The ICU team has also provided educational events interstate and internationally.

Finally, the Alfred ICU hosts internal wellbeing and social events that for the benefit of Alfred ICU staff and the wider community. This includes (but are not limited to) the ICU Family Night, ICU Christmas celebrations, and quiz nights.

The Conference and Event Manager is responsible for the planning and delivery of ICU Events, Seminars and Conferences. Events can be in-person, virtual/hybrid, or online and vary in participate numbers as well as on-site and off-site events. It is the responsibility of the Conference and Event Manager to ensure each event is of high quality and is within the agreed budget.

**Qualifications & Experience Required**

**Essential**
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Events Manager or conference and events coordination role within a corporate environment
- Experience of running events in person and online.
- A sound understanding and experience of planning, managing, evaluating events and conferences.
- Experience of stakeholder management and relationship building.
- Excellent project management skills
- Experience in event risk assessment and the management of event operations and logistics to ensure safe and compliant events in online and in person environments.
- Experience with marketing, finance, logistics and resource management relating to events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to work collaboratively within and across departments and agencies.

**Desirable**
- Demonstrated experience in the development and management of conferences and events within a Health Care Industry.
- Qualifications in Events management / Business Administration
- A highly developed understanding and experience of working with Doctors, Volunteers, and Medical Staff.
- Experience using Cvent
