**About the role**:
As we pivot into an exciting new direction, we are looking for a
**Head of Design **to help us shape our new strategic direction across our key verticals (being Motors, Pets, and Jobs) as well as raising the bar on design excellence across all other horizontal categories.

Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, in this role, you'll lead a team of 3 awesome product designers, responsible for the full product design cycle including strategy, research, concept development, prototyping & testing, UX/UI design, and the design of visual assets. Your peers are the Product leads on the verticals, our Head of Consumer Marketing, and our Customer Support lead.

**What you’ll do**:

- Work as a team player with the product leads and technology team to ensure, ‘a pixel perfect’ delivery of our strategy
- Partner with the leadership team and the product designers to define our product strategy and roadmap
- Set the tone for product discovery work including, workshop facilitation, design thinking, prototyping, and user testing
- Every day you advocate for the improvement of our design quality, our users’ experience, and our creative assets, including copy.
- Contribute to our brand positioning, your visual identity, and storytelling
- Think like our customers, which include the typical buyers and sellers, auto dealers, breeders & shelters, employers & recruiters, and media agencies.
- Manage a team of product designers (currently 3)

**What you’ll bring**:

- Passion for the importance of creativity, design, and copywriting.
- An entrepreneurial and commercial mindset
- Previous insights from working for online platforms or eCommerce, a passion for Gumtree and/or double-sided marketplaces be highly advantageous
- Proven experience in leading and delivering a significant design upgrade or a rebrand of an online platform
- Design Leadership experience and have a love for developing and empowering the team around you
- Strong communication and presentation skills, you don’t stay in the shadows, you have the ability to visualise, shape, and communicate in a way that gets buy-in
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, you are analytically strong and data savvy
- A background in UX or product design, and additional experience in creative agencies is a bonus.
- BSc/ MSc in Product, Design, Marketing, or similar
- 4+ years experience in a similar role
