**The company**
Our client, APA Group, is a leading Australian energy infrastructure business. They own and/or manage and operate a diverse, $21 billion portfolio of gas, electricity, solar and wind assets. Consistent with their purpose to strengthen communities through responsible energy, they deliver approximately half of the nation’s gas usage and connect Victoria with South Australia and New South Wales with Queensland through their investments in electricity transmission assets. They are also one of the largest owners and operators of renewable power generation assets in Australia, with wind and solar projects across the country. Their operations span every mainland state and territory in the country and they employ more than 1900 people.
**The role**
Reporting to the Head of Net Zero and Climate, this role will analyse and advise on a range of climate change matters including climate change policy, risk management, emerging trends and carbon offsets. Additionally, the role will undertake and maintain climate change related benchmarking data, develop and support responses on policy consultation processes relevant to climate change, and work across the business to maintain a single source of truth for climate change related data and information.
**Key responsibilities**
- Support the Head of Net Zero and Climate with the ongoing evolution of climate strategy due to new climate policies and emerging trends etc.
- Climate, carbon and emissions policy
- Carbon offsets including across the variety of international schemes
- Climate change risk management
- Renewable electricity certificate schemes.
- Assist with management of the climate transition plan tracking of progress against key commitments.
- Monitor, review and analyse policy and other relevant developments and emerging trends as it relates to climate change. This may include peer company climate plans, reports, policies, news articles etc.
- Prepare briefs and / or reports to the Head of Net Zero and Climate and the broader business (as required) on potential business implications.
- Manage input into policy or related key developments reports for distribution to relevant teams across the business.
**About you**
You will bring a strong practical understanding of climate change including policy, emissions and decarbonisation coupled with a sound understanding of key decarbonisation concepts.
Additionally, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification and/or relevant work experience in related discipline such as commerce, engineering, climate science.
- Min 5 years’ experience in climate change policy related roles.
- Strong climate change policy skills and expertise including the development of policy consultation submissions.
- Proven collaboration and influencing skills with both diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of climate change risk (including TCFD), carbon offset and renewable electricity schemes / markets both local and international
- High level of attention to detail.
