Gold Coast, Australia The Disability Trust Full time

**_Are you passionate about care and looking to have a career that's rewarding?_**

**Our opportunity**:
The Disability Trust are seeking Disability Support Workers to join our team in the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast region in Queensland. We offer a rewarding opportunity where you will provide one-on-one dedicated support to a varied range of participants across various age groups and unique disabilities.

**Who are some of the clients I will support?**

**Mathew*- **is a vibrant and active primary school student with autism, living in the Gold Coast area. He needs support to communicate, build and nurture friendships, as well as learn new life skills such as getting ready for school and assistance in daily chores. To achieve these goals, he needs highly skilled supports with an inclusion mindset.

**Adam*- **is a young man in his early 20's based in Gold Coast, living with Autism. He currently requires 24/7 support. As an avid music lover, Adam enjoys listening to his CD collection and will impress you with his ability to recite all the lyrics. So, if you are someone who has previous experience teaching young people life skills, an understanding of complex behaviours, and a shared interest in music, this could be the role for you.

**Beth* and Amy*-** We are also looking to support two of our female participants aged in their late 50’s who reside in the Gold Coast. They use a wheelchair for mobility assistance and require support with daily activities such as attending appointments and community events. Both thoroughly enjoy going out for a coffee and playing board games. If you enjoy a good chat and can connect well with mature participants, we would love to hear from you.

**What will a day in my role look like?**

While no two days are ever quite the same, your day-to-day role responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with attendance at appointments and other community-based activities.
- Engaging in skill building activities both individually and in a group setting.
- Delivering personal care to our participant, both in home and out and about in the community.
- Provide meaningful and active support to enable participants to achieve their goals.

This is a career opportunity that allows you to work alongside participants and build a meaningful relationship with them. We also offer scope and variety with an opportunity to work across our other services as they become available.

We offer varied shift hour from morning, afternoon, evening, and sleepover shifts across the week and including weekends.

**We will value your**:

- Experience working in a 1:1 model.
- Ability to work in partnership with participants and their support networks.
- Dedication and proven success in delivering person-centred support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.
- Current Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

If successful, you will be required to provide evidence of at least two (2) doses of a COVID-19 vaccination before commencement. A current First Aid Certificate is preferred; however, we can support you to obtain and maintain a valid certification throughout the life of your career.

**What we offer**:
At The Trust, we are person-centred, and people focused. In return for your commitment to delivering the best support to our participants, we reward you with a range of vast and varied benefits including:

- An on boarding program designed to set you up for success with access to ongoing professional development, designed and delivered by in-house experts.
- Opportunity for a variety of shifts and career progression.
- Support to obtain and maintain your First Aid qualification.
- Access to generous not-for-profit salary packaging options. (up to $15,900 + $2,650 meals & entertainment tax free earning potential per annum)
- Options for flexible public holiday leave for events of cultural or religious significance.
- Access to reward and recognition programs
- Attractive hours on offer with opportunity to join our team on a permanent contract between 25 - 30 hours per fortnight

For this position, the casual rate is between **_$40.26-$42.79_** per hour (plus superannuation) to be negotiated on your skills, qualifications, and experience.

***Next Steps**:
We pride ourselves on creating and investing in our workforce and finding the best people for the right role. If this sounds like your next career opportunity, we would love to connect.
