**Who we are**

The Applications branch is at the forefront of the delivery of digital services for business needs through multi-disciplinary teams:

- advise and co-design suitable solutions based on business needs
- Co-develop, test and implement solutions with technical teams through DAFF shared services arrangements
- transition solutions to Business-as-Usual
- Manage relationships with business owners
- collaborate with business to discover future ICT needs
- Manage agreements with vendors and suppliers for support, maintenance, changes and enhancements
- procure and onboard internal and service provider resources Manage, maintain and provide system support
- obtain feedback and coordinate with the technical teams to implement changes, updates, bug fixes and enhancements based on the change framework
- provide expert Tier 2 support to incidents raised by service desk Manage product life cycle
- monitor and manage the performance, usage, user experience and value for money
- incorporate feedback loops from users for ongoing improvement
- collaborate with other areas for reuse and cross-use of apps
- manage product end-of-life.

**Knowledge and experience**
ICT Assistant Directors Depending on the role, the Assistant Director may do the following:

- manage and prioritise the development of IT specifications by engaging with internal stakeholders to identify user needs, allocate appropriate ICT resources and provide user training to support the use of these resources
- ensure the effective and successful implementation and maintenance of the department’s IT systems to ensure that the organisation’s assets are adequately protected against internal and external threats
- provide high level analysis of issues, advice and reporting to governance committees, the Executive Leadership Team and CIO
- contribute to the management, preparation, and coordination of complex inputs to policy formulation and/or project management
- strategically communicate complex technical information that is appropriate for a range of audiences
- managing project design and delivery as part of a high performing multi-disciplinary team
- engage in staff mentoring and transferring analytical expertise into the division/branch to improve data literacy and staff capability
- lead a diverse team across a number of disciplines, these may include Cloud or Web systems
- achieve outcomes through effective delivery of project and programmer within your area of responsibility Vendor Manager
- proven ability to leverage an understanding of complex concepts related to technology implementation, to better anticipate and address key risks in contracts
- experience in undertaking procurement and tendering within Government, including development of procurement and contract documentation
- ability to supervise staff (both APS and contractors) to ensure outcomes and deliver quality services
- working to excellent knowledge of procurement and contracting concepts as well as Government policies and procedures with the ability to identify, develop and implement improvements to established policies and processes
- ability to be a focal point for resolution of all procurement and contract related communications between department business teams, Corporate Procurement, Legal and vendors
- the use of sound judgment, innovation and creativity applied to resolution of contract issues
- well-developed written and oral communication, liaison and teamwork skills, including the ability to work flexibly in small and medium sized teams and experience in conducting complex negotiations with suppliers and key stakeholders
- ability to monitor and report on vendor performance and customer satisfaction and to identify actions required to maintain or improve levels of service
- a proven record of excellent relationship management skills and ability to engage with stakeholders to understand their expectations and concerns
