About the role
Australian Red Cross Young Parents Program (YPP) works to ensure best outcomes for children and families by improving the capacity of young parents with complex needs to live and parent independently.
The Family Education Community Supports (FECS) team provides in house services that complement case management support. These services include vocational and parenting education, playgroups, child development assessments and specialised interventions, referral to allied health services, student placements and the community volunteer program. The Team Leader FECS is part of the YPP Management Team alongside the Team Leader Residential, Team Leader Outreach & Aftercare, and YPP Manager, and is a regular participant in the YPP on call roster.
The Team Leader - Family Education Community Supports (FECS) manages the educational wrap around services available within YPP across all four sites. The role includes direct provision of individual and group interventions to YPP clients, as well as project and staff management. Travel will be required to travel to support YPP’s regional teams.
What you will bring
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in social work, psychology, youth work, welfare, health, education, child protection and/or early childhood or less formal qualifications with specialised skills in relevant field
- Excellent understanding of child protection and child development needs, including best practice working with vulnerable children, adolescents and families
- Demonstrated knowledge of the complex needs of the vulnerable young people and children, including barriers to learning and development and strengths based, client centred practice
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated analytical, report writing, presentation and planning skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with, and manage teams to provide, accessible and safe support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds, and people with a disability
- Strong monitoring and evaluation skills, including demonstrated ability to develop and maintain systems to ensure consistent delivery of program KPIs, contractual compliance and data informed program development initiatives
- Working with children check
- Drivers licence
- Current first aid qualification
