**Your new role**
Join the NSW SES Flood Rescue Enhancement Team
As the Flood Rescue Response Coordinator, you'll be behind the scenes, orchestrating flood rescues across NSW. Your mission? To work alongside our Zone office staff to strategise, plan, and lead our Flood Rescue Operational Officers to facilitate effective flood rescues. With your coordination ability, we'll exceed expectations, establish strong partnerships with support agencies, and deliver successful outcomes
In this role, you will oversee operational response functions, pre-incident planning, work with Zone colleagues to enhance operational capability management, and ensure our agency's adeptness in flood rescues. You'll be part of a team to devise and implement risk mitigation strategies for day-to-day flood rescue operations.
In collaboration with Zone staff, develop pre-incident plans, conduct exercises (covering flood rescue coordination, leadership, IMT, and multi-agency collaboration), develop and implement procedures, and perform in-depth flood rescue risk analysis - all while maintaining a 24/7 flood rescue coordination capability.
Expect to be part of on-call rosters and shift work where you'll respond swiftly to changing weather forecasts, provide operational support, and deploy as necessary, to uphold NSW SES's operational readiness and response capacity. Additionally, you'll coordinate capability assessments, quality assurance checks and reporting, whilst harmonising every facet of our operational capacity to ensure we consistently and professionally deliver flood rescue operations. Moreover, you'll work alongside Zone colleagues to foster robust relationships with support agencies, enabling strategic coordination of flood rescues through a multi-agency approach.
**About you**
To be successful in this role you will:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of incident management requirements and the legislated role of the NSW State Emergency Service
- Be able to work in Incident Management Teams during operational situations, including participating in rosters and shifts outside of normal business hours to actively contribute to flood rescue coordination
- Demonstrated experience in flood rescue coordination or relatable capability and experience
- Operational capability and experience including training to the level of Operations Officer (including AIIMS) or willingness to obtain competency within 12 months
- Knowledge of AIIMS principles and processes or willingness to obtain competence within 12 months
