The Health Approvals and Home Care team is a high volume, fast-paced telephony and processing centre based in Adelaide. The team is responsible for providing information and support to health providers and clients regarding DVA funded health treatment, including services available under the Veterans’ Home Care and Community Nursing Programs. The team is also responsible for the management of prior financial authorisation requests for medical procedures and treatments which are not covered under standard DVA health card arrangements.

We are seeking a high performing manager to lead for our Health Approvals and Home Care team. The Team Manager is responsible for the broader management of the Health Approvals and Home Care team, guiding our APS5 Managers to ensure team responsibilities are met, and opportunities for performance efficiencies and improvements are explored and implemented.

**Duties**
- Overall management of the Approvals and Home Care team (in consultation with the Assistant Director and Director) - 40 staff.
- Direct line management of several APS5 Managers, providing:

- Ongoing coaching, support and guidance in each of their respective roles
- Performance management of the APS5 staff
- Administrative management of all leave and backfilling arrangements
- Guidance in the management and recruitment of all team APS3 and APS4 staff
- Liaison Officer/Coordinator of responses to Ministerial and Ombudsman queries, formal requests for information, and complex/contentious complaints or escalated client matters. This includes management of complex client escalations, both in person and via telephone.
- Data collection and monthly reporting on workload, outcomes and trends
- Monitoring and reporting of workload trends
- Business area representation at meetings and forums
- Facilitation of monthly team meetings
- Driving improvement and resource development within the team

**Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.

**Notes**

Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for an initial specified term of up to18 months.

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
